Posted on Nov 27, 2022

The Indus Valley Civilization's delicate palm-leaf transcription of an ancient weight-loss method has led to a new approach to treating obesity. In the Indian Vedic Sanskrit hymnbook known as the Rigveda, yoga makes an appearance.
Yoga's long and illustrious history has been traced back over a thousand years and is broken down into several epochs of growth and change.
The Rishis and Brahmans who practised and studied Yoga and wrote about it in the Upanishads are credited with its development and refinement. Over the course of many years, this technique evolved into modern Yoga.
The 5 cornerstones of the discipline are as follows:
·       Exercise
·       Diet
·       Breathing
·       Relaxation
·       Meditation
Do Yoga Asanas Help You Shed Pounds? – Yoga For Weightloss
Many individuals have profited from the evolution of yoga's capacity to aid in healthy weight loss. The effectiveness of yoga as a weight loss tool is up for debate. Some say that Yoga can't help you lose weight on its own, but that's not true.
Yoga's weight-loss and health benefits are amplified when practised in tandem with a healthy diet.
The practise of yoga improves one's awareness and connection to the body. You'll stop bingeing on foods that add extra pounds and instead seek out those that are good for you.
Changing your food habits and increasing your physical activity are both necessary for successful weight loss. These are essential for any weight reduction yoga pose to be effective.
You can get the strength-building benefits of yoga for weightloss from more than simply the physical postures. Additional advantages include:
·       More leeway
·       Enhanced breathing capacity
·       Enhanced vitality and energy
·       Normal metabolic rate
·       Enhanced fitness for athletes
·       increased muscle tone
·       Benefits to cardiovascular health
·       Slimming down
·       Helps cope with stress
The effects of stress on the body and the brain can be severe. Pain, anxiety, insomnia, and a lack of focus are all symptoms it may cause. When people gain weight, stress is often a major factor. The stress-relieving benefits of yoga are well-documented.
Yoga's stress-reduction and weight-loss-promoting physical advantages work hand in hand, making it an ideal tool for achieving and maintaining overall wellness.
Lose Weight with These Yoga Poses – Yoga For Weightloss
Even though these yoga positions are very easy to perform, doing yoga may not always lead to rapid weight loss. These Yoga positions are excellent for increasing your range of motion, sharpening your focus, and strengthening your muscles. Yoga asanas for weight loss can be practised after your body has acclimated to them.
Here are a few yoga postures for weightloss (asanas) and weight loss suggestions to help you get started.
"Sun Salutations"
Ten Sun Salutations are a bare minimum. Exercise difficulty can be raised by increasing the duration spent in certain poses or by moving through the sequence at a faster clip.
1.     Take a deep breath in as you stand and raise your arms above your head.
2.     As you bend forward at the waist, exhale and swan dive down.
3.     It's time to get back into Plank position, so either jump, step, or walk your feet there.
4.     Tend to this for at least five deep breaths.
5.     Bring your shins to the ground and squat down.
6.     Put your hands behind your shoulders and extend your legs so that the tops of your feet are touching the mat.
7.     Lift into Cobra Pose by inhaling and going as high as you can.
8.     When you're ready, exhale and come back down, then inhale and press up into Downward Facing Dog.
9.     Tend to this position for at least five deep breaths.
10.  Inhale as you lift your feet off the mat in a Forward Bend (this can be done by jumping, stepping, or walking) and release your breath.
11.  Exhale and raise your arms above your head.
12.  As you let out your breath, return your arms to their starting position by your sides.
Boat Pose
1.     For stress relief, this pose is ideal since it activates the body as a whole, particularly the abdominals.
2.     Put your legs straight out in front of you while sitting on the floor.
3.     Raise your feet off the ground and bend your knees until your thighs form a right angle with the floor and your shins are perpendicular to it.
4.     Put your arms out in front of you until they are perpendicular to the ground.
5.     Keep your torso up and your legs straight if you can.
6.     Take 30 seconds to maintain this position.
7.     Repetition of at least five times is required.
8.     Assume the plank position
9.     Do plank stance for 10–20 minutes.
10.  Step backward with your heels up from the tabletop position.
11.  Create a straight line with your body. Examine your physical self in a mirror.
12.  Lean on your muscles, especially those in your abdomen, arms, and legs.
13.  Wait for at least a minute here.
Triangle Pose, or Trikonasana
The trikonasana is a great abdominal and waist fat burner that also aids digestion. It's great for the body as a whole because it increases and boosts blood flow. This asana's side-to-side motion targets and tones the hip flexors, hamstrings, and thighs.
It may not cause as much muscle trembling as some other asanas, but it still provides the same health benefits. The benefits extend to enhanced equilibrium and focus.
"Twisting Chair" or "Parivrtta Utkatasana"
Parivrtta Utkatasana is often referred to as the "squat" pose in yoga. However, you should realise that it is a bit more strenuous and focuses on strengthening the abdominals, thighs, and buttocks.
The lymphatic system and digestive system both benefit from this asana. If you want to shed some pounds, this is the method to do it.
Strengthening the Core Through Yoga: A Powerful Method for Shedding Pounds – Power Yoga for Weightloss

Power Yoga, though, is a another thing altogether. It's a challenging kind of yoga that will leave you feeling refreshed inside and out.
It resembles a cardiovascular exercise more than anything. Power Yoga is beneficial for weight loss, general wellness, and stress management. Physical and mental endurance are both improved.

You may notice that you have an increased preference for nutritious foods and lifestyle choices as your practise and awareness progress. It's not a given that you'll shed pounds, but the chances are high, and the benefits could stretch well beyond that.
